Rams lose WR Robert Woods for the season with torn ACL

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods is done for the year after suffering a torn ACL in practice Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Woods finished practice and spoke to reporters before tests later revealed the injury, says Schefter.

The injury for Woods came on the same day the Rams added former New York Giants and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the roster. Beckham was waived by the Browns earlier in November and signed with Los Angeles after clearing waivers and becoming a free agent.

Woods, 29, had 45 receptions for 556 yards with four receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown in the first nine games of the season. He was reportedly one of the Rams players who spoke to Beckham and urged him to sign with the team.

“We’re trying to go to the Super Bowl and he’s a good weapon to have,” Woods told Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

Woods began his career with the Buffalo Bills and signed a five-year, $34 million contract with the Rams in free agency in 2017. He signed a four-year, $65 million extension with the team in 2020 that keeps him under contract with Los Angeles through the 2025 season.
