The Pittsburgh Steelers have made significant moves this offseason on the offensive side of the ball.

They have had a relatively consistent group of defensive players, at least at the top of the depth chart. They have not had to make too many moves on defense, but that sentiment is quite different when it comes to the offense.

The Steelers have been unable to be consistent on offense since Ben Roethlisberger retired. They have continuously made moves on the offensive side of the ball with little success. With a revolving door of quarterbacks and the inability to retain skill positions for the long term with the exception of Pat Freiermuth, the Steelers went all in again this offseason in the hopes of getting it right this time.

One former player who believes that it will work out for the best for the Steelers is NFL legend and Pro Footbal Hall Of Famer Randy Moss. Moss believes that the signing of Aaron Rodgers will work out well for the team, and that he will mesh well with the new wide receiver corps.

“I think when you look at the wide receiver [position] … think a guy that’s going to have a phenomenal year. I look for a big year out of Pittsburgh,” Moss said. “Because of Aaron Rodgers. I look for a big year out of Aaron Rodgers and the reason why? A guy like DK Metcalf. I’m excited about D in Pittsburgh … excited about Aaron, and that defense with Tomlin."

It would require a significant improvement in performance for Rodgers to perform better than he did last season, as the Jets floundered in his only healthy season with the team. His recent luck with injuries has not been the best, and his age puts him as the oldest player in the NFL.

It is possible that the Steelers do improve for this coming season, but their moves simply read as temporary stopgaps that could lead to things getting worse before they get better. If they do perform well, it leads to a tough decision as to whether to keep a then-42 year old Rodgers around after.
