Ranking every Minnesota Vikings player: Cornerback depth shines in Nos. 80-76 with some high-upside athletes

The Minnesota Vikings are getting closer to reporting to training camp. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy is about to take over as the starting quarterback and a significant amount of the focus will be on him. However, it will be the depth of the roster that will make the biggest impact.

We've been ranking all the players on the Vikings' roster, and are now just outside of the top 75. The next batch of players is loaded with some cornerback talent, including a hyper-athletic player who could be worth developing long-term.

80. DT Alexander Musch Williams

Williams played at Ohio State and Vanderbilt before transferring to Middle Tennessee State during his seven years at the collegiate level, and is one of the oldest players in the UDFA class, along with Tyler Batty. He only made six starts on the season before having his season end with an injury. He has some really good size for the position at 6'7 and 291 lbs, but the injury he suffered was a torn Achilles tendon. That could be a major hindrance to him making the team.

79. CB Kahlef Hallassie

Hallassie has a decent amount of experience in the National Football League, having played in 10 games with the Cleveland Browns over the last two years. Hailing from Western Kentucky, Hallassie could be a depth piece at cornerback for this team, including on special teams, but getting those opportunities will prove to be tough.

78. CB Keenan Garber

Garber is the epitome of a ball of clay. He is a top-tier athlete for the position with his Relative Athletic Score in the 97th percentile. He's explosive and agile with solid size to pair. The biggest issue with Garber is that he doesn't have great instincts for the position right now. The idea of what Garber can be is great, but getting there is a difficult ask. Plus, earning opportunities will prove to be difficult. Showing out on special teams is going to be key for Garber, potentially making the roster, and his athleticism is the key.

77. CB Reddy Steward

You might know who Steward is from last year's preseason with the Chicago Bears when he had a pick-six against the Kansas City Chiefs, a game in which he had two interceptions. He also fits what the Vikings have been targeting at the position at just 178 lbs. His experience will give him a leg up initially, but standing out will take another preseason like he had last year.

76. WR Dontae Fleming

Fleming is another one of the wide receivers that the Vikings brought in to vie for the punt return job. Unlike Silas Bolden, Fleming has decent size and athleticism to potentially win the job. With the talent at wide receiver, making it on those merits isn't likely, but if Fleming can show something in the punt return game, that is his path to the roster.
