Ravens GM hints at trading down in 2023 NFL Draft

The Ravens currently have five picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, but general manager Eric DeCosta isn't content with what they have.

"We've got five picks. We wish we had more. Our goal is probably to get more along the way if we can, depending on how things fall," DeCosta said during the Ravens' pre-draft press conference.

Baltimore's picks span from No. 22 in the first round to No. 199 in the sixth round. The team doesn't hold a second-round pick, due to the trade for LB Roquan Smith mid-season, or a seventh-round pick.

However, if history teaches us anything, the Ravens will likely trade back to acquire more picks. Baltimore has made nine trades in the last four years, and DeCosta says the chance it'll happen again is "pretty decent."

"Of course, if we're in love with somebody while we're on the clock, we're going to make the pick," DeCosta added. "Sometimes you get lucky in that there's a guy that you might really want. You make the tough decision to trade back, and you can still get him. That happens more than you think."

In what seems to be a deep draft class at multiple positions, DeCosta looks like he may have a few tricks up his sleeve to build the Ravens roster up after a very underwhelming free agency.
