The worst is feared for Rashee Rice.

The Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver left his team’s 17-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday with a knee injury.

After the game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Rice is feared to have suffered a torn ACL on the play.

The play occurred when Patrick Mahomes inadvertently launched himself into Rice’s knee while trying to make a tackle after throwing an interception in the first quarter (video here). Rice was carted off the field and had a towel over his head, which is generally a bad sign.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that Rice would undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the injury.

The injury news on Rice is unfortunate for Kansas City. The Chiefs are already without receiver Hollywood Brown, who is expected to miss the regular season due to a shoulder injury.

Rice entered Week 4 as the Chiefs’ leading receiver with 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
