Report: Giants to host free agent DL A'Shawn Robinson

Many of the New York Giants’ offseason moves to date have focused on shoring up the team's stability on offense, but a notable defensive addition could be on the horizon should things break right for the franchise.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport passes along that defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson will visit New York on Monday as he continues to assess his options in free agency.

The 27-year-old defensive tackle entered the offseason as part of a deep free agent class at the position. He is coming off a three-year, $18M contract with the Los Angeles Rams, who are reportedly interested in cooking up a new deal with Robinson. The Rams might prioritize that possibility even more now that fellow free agent Greg Gaines has agreed to terms on a deal with the Buccaneers.

While Robinson’s playing time has fluctuated over the course of his career, he has started 24 games across the past two seasons and was a productive cog during Los Angeles' run to the Super Bowl in 2021-22. His Pro Football Focus ratings have seen a wide range, too, although one constant has been his relative strength as a run defender. The former second-rounder's most productive season came in 2021-22, when he totaled 67 tackles and a pair of sacks.
