Report: Vikings' Dalvin Cook will hold out without 'reasonable extension'

Vikings Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook isn't happy with his contract situation in Minnesota, and he's prepared to hold out.

Cook reportedly will no longer participate in any team-related activities until he receives a "reasonable extension," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook no longer will participate in any team-related activities until and unless he receives a “reasonable” deal, a source said Monday.

“He’s out,” a source told ESPN. “Without a reasonable extension, he will not be showing up for camp or beyond.”

The Vikings and Cook have not spoken since last week, Schefter adds, and have no further discussions scheduled.

Cook's services should be of top priority to the Vikings following his first season of over 1,000 rushing yards. On top of that, he rushed for 13 touchdowns and added 519 yards receiving.

A few weeks ago, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that both sides had been engaged in "productive" talks, but they weren't close at the time. The 24-year-old is set to earn $1.33 million in base salary in 2020 during the final year of his rookie deal.

Other star running backs have held out in the past, including Ezekiel Elliott, Le'Veon Bell and Todd Gurley -- all of whom agreed to massive contract extensions.
