The New Orleans Saints are in a season of change in just about every sense of the world. Kellen Moore is their new head coach, his first lead man gig of his coaching career in the pros. Quarterback Derek Carr just retired, opening the door for a shift at the position for the short and long-term future.

Fans have been clamoring for New Orleans to "reset" or "rebuild" for multiple seasons now. In fact, those requests began to arise as soon as Drew Brees retired from the NFL.

Saints may finally hit reset button

The Saints have consistently chosen to take an aggressive approach and refused to take their medicine and move on from aging veterans in an effort to help their long-term outlook when it comes to roster building and the salary cap.

Kellen Moore's recent comments on their plans going forward may point to a change in thought process, though. He was honest and hopeful in a recent press conference.

"There's a component of a blank slate here... We recognize all the good that's gone on here, and there's a lot of really special things. We don't want to lose any of that through this transition... It's an exciting opportunity for these guys to get out there and go for it."

A blank slate may hint toward a new age of Saints football. In recent years, they've been clouded by a tenuous HC stint from Dennis Allen or a lack of franchise quarterback play since Brees hung up his cleats.

Moore is determined to get the Saints back on track. Let's see if he can carve out the next steps toward a return to the postseason for New Orleans.
