Should the Bills Re-Sign Devin Singletary?

The majority of fans (73.6%) want to let Singletary walk and retool at RB. And they could be correct. Spotrac has his projected contract at three years/$16.7M, or $5.5M per year. That would land him in the same contract tier as James Conner, Gus Edwards, Chase Edmonds, and Jamaal Williams. Under Beane, the Buffalo Bills have shied away from paying RBs. They may feel like Singletary hasn’t produced enough to warrant a second contract. If that’s the case, that would leave just James Cook and Nyheim Hines as Buffalo’s only true RBs in the backfield. Moving Forward Without Motor

As mentioned before, if the Bills feel like Devin Singletary hasn’t produced enough to justify a second contract, they may also put the blame on him for the lack of production instead of the OL. If so, they may feel like running it back with Cook, Hines, and possibly a rookie is enough to support Josh in the run game.

The Bills should look at the Kansas City Chiefs and rookie standout Isiah Pacheco. The Chiefs found Pacheco in the 7th round in 2022 and he gradually beat out Clyde Edwards-Helaire for the RB1 role over the course of the season; he earned every snap he’s received. If Buffalo can find a cheap late round rookie like Pacheco, the 1-2 punch of him and Cook will be a great option for Josh Allen for years. We all know Buffalo won’t be able to make a splash signing in free agency, at RB or any position. So working the draft class this year will be priority No.1 for Brandon Beane and co.
