Steelers Christmas Game Faces Scrutiny
Jason Bridge/USA TODAY Sports

As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for a pivotal Week 11 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, another challenge looms on the horizon—their highly anticipated Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Set to be streamed live on Netflix, concerns over the platform’s capability are already surfacing following a problematic debut during the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match.

Millions of fans around the world fought buffering screens harder than the two in the main event fought each other. The streaming service faced significant backlash during the event, with viewers experiencing consistent buffering issues and interrupted feeds. This poor performance has led to widespread doubts about Netflix's readiness to handle the demands of live-streaming an NFL game on Christmas Day.

Former NFL player Tone Diggs voiced his frustrations.

“It’s all fun and games tonight @netflix, but if you ruin my family’s Christmas because we can’t watch the Steelers… there will be real [expletive] to pay.” wrote Diggs.

“This is a disaster for Netflix. They have no chance of successfully airing a Chiefs-Steelers Christmas Day NFL game based on this performance.” wrote another fan.

The Steelers’ holiday game is one of the NFL’s marquee matchups, featuring Pittsburgh taking on the undefeated, two-time defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs. All eyes will be on Netflix to prove it can handle the pressure of streaming such a high-profile event.

For now, Pittsburgh shifts its focus to Sunday’s clash with the Ravens. A win at Acrisure Stadium would extend their lead in the AFC North, showcasing Russell Wilson’s resurgent offense and T.J. Watt’s dominant defense as they battle Lamar Jackson’s dynamic attack.
