It sure looked like Gordon slipped and Ravens defensive end Mike Green hopped over him as he was falling. Gordon was angry on the sideline, slamming his helmet on the ground as Miami personnel attempted to calm him down.

The call negated a play which would have given the Dolphins some much-needed momentum on offense. Instead, they punted the football away three plays later.

It’s been that kind of year for the Dolphins. Nothing has gone to plan, and it’s the reason why head coach Mike McDaniel may be on the hot seat. A win over the Ravens and a returning Lamar Jackson would go a long way in preventing things from getting even noisier. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network provided an update on McDaniel’s status during the Prime Video pregame show.

“Safe to say Mike McDaniel’s job status is firmly up in the air,” Rapoport said. “On the hot seat, as they say. I do not sense anything imminent from owner Stephen Ross, who likes him, believes in him and has invested in him.

“But here is how McDaniel is going to be judged: how do the players respond? What is it like in the locker room? Do they keep playing for him, or do they not, and can you see it? That is going to determine whether he keeps his job.”
