Texans' Deshaun Watson holds nothing against Bears for not drafting him

Houston Texans starting quarterback Deshaun Watson requires no extra boost from alleged bulletin-board material as he prepares to play at the Chicago Bears this Sunday afternoon.

Chicago famously traded up to the second-overall spot of the 2017 NFL Draft to select Mitchell Trubisky, who was benched in favor of Nick Foles for a period earlier this fall, while Watson fell to the Texans at pick No. 12. Watson earned Pro Bowl selections in each of the past two seasons and, despite Houston's overall woes this year, appears to be a legitimate franchise cornerstone for at least the next decade.

Despite what could have been, Watson feels no ill will toward the club that passed on him. Watson explained when speaking with reporters on Wednesday, per Nick Shook of the league's official website:

"It's no motivation. It's what the organization went with. I have no ties, nothing against the Chicago Bears or the organization. Of course, the media's gonna make stories and like you said, for those fans, they're gonna of course say something about it.

"For me personally, it's no motivation, nothing like that. They did what they did. And just keep pushing forward. They thought that was the best situation for themselves at that time. For me, it's no motivation, I respect and got all the respect for those players and coaches and ownership."

Watson will enter the Week 14 showdown at Chicago ninth in the NFL with a total QBR of 72.2 and tied for third with a 110.0 passer rating, according to ESPN stats. Trubisky, meanwhile, notched a 51.7 QBR and 88.2 passer rating across his six games this season.

Once 5-1, the Bears have lost their last six contests.
