Titans place WR Julio Jones on IR with hamstring injury

Tennessee Titans receiver Julio Jones missed three games earlier in the season with a hamstring injury, and he'll miss at least three more after the team abruptly placed him on injured reserve Saturday.

The move is surprising considering Jones didn't even appear on the team's injury report earlier in the week. He practiced fully Wednesday, but was listed as limited Thursday with a hamstring injury. After not practicing Friday, Jones was declared questionable for the team's Week 10 game against the New Orleans Saints. Now he's out for that game and at least two more before he'll be eligible to come back on to the active roster.

Jones, 32, played the first 10 years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons before he was traded to the Titans in June. In six games with his new team, Jones has 21 receptions for 336 yards and hasn't yet scored a touchdown. Jones has been out-shined by his teammate A.J. Brown, who has 40 receptions for 551 yards and three touchdowns.

The Titans traded their second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and their fourth-round pick in 2023 for Jones and a sixth-round pick in 2023.

Tennessee's offense took a bigger hit earlier in November when Derrick Henry was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury that required surgery to repair. A return for the running back before the end of the season appears unlikely.
