Tom Brady was not about to allow a social media troll get the last word while reacting to a comment he left on Richard Sherman’s farewell post about his recent departure from the Seattle Seahawks.
Sherman — who ultimately signed with the division-rival San Francisco 49ers — took to Instagram to say his goodbyes following his release.
As noted by Mark Daniels, New England Patriots beat writer for the Providence Journal, Brady liked Sherman’s Instagram post and also left a comment saying of the corner’s tenure with the Seahawks, “Incredible player and they were lucky to have you.”

A wisenheimer tried to call out Brady for his praise of Sherman, writing, “didn’t he intercept you a billion times.”
Brady was happy to correct the troll, responding, “only once.”

Brady of course is correct that Sherman did in fact only intercept him once. But it did inspire one of the more popular memes in NFL history.
After Sherman’s Seahawks upended Brady’s Patriots by a score of 24-23 in an October 2012 game — one in which Sherman had one of two picks of Brady — Sherman posted a troll-job of his own on social media. In a since-deleted tweet, Sherman posted a photo of himself getting up close and personal with Brady after the game that featured the now-infamous taunt, “U MAD BRO?”

It would certainly seem Brady has gotten over Sherman’s antics after all these years, that’s for sure.
