Vikings Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook to miss time with dislocated shoulder, torn labrum

Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook missed time earlier this season with an ankle sprain and was carted off the field late in the third quarter of Sunday's 34-26 loss to the San Francisco 49ers with a different issue.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport (h/t Nick Shook), Cook suffered a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum versus the 49ers. The 26-year-old could miss at least the next two games but, per Rapoport, may be available to face the Chicago Bears on Dec. 20.

According to ESPN stats, Cook sits fifth in the NFL this season with 773 rushing yards and 171 carries. He accumulated 39 yards on 10 attempts with six receptions for 64 yards before he went down with his latest injury after 49ers defensive tackle Kevin Givens hit him in the backfield.

As was previously the case, backup Alexander Mattison will replace Cook atop the depth chart until further notice. Mattison tallied seven rushes for 21 yards and a touchdown with two catches for seven yards in the loss to San Francisco. Per NFL rules, Cook would have to remain sidelined for a minimum of three games if Minnesota ultimately places him on injured reserve.
