Washington Football Team will not have fans at home games

The Washington Football Team has announced that they will not be having fans in attendance at home games for the upcoming NFL season.

The announcement is not surprising, as several other NFL teams have also decided to not host fans due to the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier this month, the Raiders announced they would have no fans in their inaugural season in Las Vegas, while the Packers have announced there won't be fans for at least the first two home games.

Still, some NFL teams seem intent on trying to get fans into stadiums if possible. Texas governor Greg Abbott said in June that the Cowboys would be allowed to have up to 45,000 fans at home games, though that was when many assumed the worst of the pandemic would be behind us by now. Meanwhile, a few teams, including the Baltimore Ravens, have placed attendance caps for the upcoming season in an attempt to allow fans while still keeping everyone safe.

The no-fan policy is not just limited to football, as the MLB is currently being played without fans, though the Cincinnati Reds reportedly have submitted a proposal to allow fans to attend games. The NBA took it a step further with the bubble strategy, keeping players in a select area so they are not at risk of infection.

Of course, the big question is whether or not the season will get finished at all, regardless of fans. The MLB has faced multiple outbreaks in its shortened season and many believe the NFL will face a similar fate.
