Campbell might have been one and done if the Lions ended the 2021 NFL season with a 0-16-1 record.

As much as he is entertaining and charismatic, he could not lead the team to victory.

Their offense stalled on most drives while their defense couldn’t stop anyone.

The coach ultimately absorbs the failures that the team demonstrates on the field.

That’s why the call of his firing went louder with each passing defeat.

But a victory over an average team somehow restores optimism that he’s the right person for the role.

Claiming that the first win was a long time coming, and it finally came.

Campbell proved that despite having a weak receiving corps and some starters on injured reserve, he could motivate his team to win.

Sometimes, a roster need not have the best players at every position.

That said, the Lions proved that they are still willing to grind with Campbell mentoring them.
