Actor Ryan Reynolds is reportedly interested in buying the Ottawa Senators

Actor Ryan Reynolds is reportedly looking to expand his role as a professional sports owner.

The Hollywood actor is interested in purchasing the NHL's Ottawa Senators if the team hits the market, according to a report from People Magazine.

Reynolds, who is originally from Canada, would be interested in keeping the team in Ottawa should he actually end up purchasing it.

Reynolds has not made an official comment on the report, but he did respond to a Senators fan on Twitter with this.

It would not be his first venture in professional sports.

Reynolds is already the owner of Wrexham AFC, a professional soccer team from Wales.

He purchased the team, along with It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, in 2021. The team, as well as the duos ownership of it, is the subject of the TV series "Welcome to Wrexham."

The Ottawa Sun reported this week that Anna and Olivia Melnyk, the daughters of late team owner Eugene Melynk, could put the team up for sale within the next few months.

Melnyk, who purchased the Senators back in 2003, died in March at the age of 62. He was hospitalized for late-stage liver failure in 2015 and received a liver transplant that same year.

The Senators' long-term future in Ottawa has been in doubt at times over the years, especially as they have fought for a new arena within the city limits. They currently play in Kanata, Ontario, which is about 20 miles outside of Ottawa.
