Quack! Quack! Quack!

Adidas, the NHL’s official jersey sponsor and manufacturer, and Disney have teamed up to release jerseys from the 1992 classic children’s hockey film, The Mighty Ducks.

The jerseys won’t be worn by either the Anaheim Ducks or Chicago Blackhawks but will be available for fans to purchase for a limited time. Along with the jerseys, Adidas has also created corresponding sneakers in the Ducks and Hawks color schemes.

Originally released in 1992, The Mighty Ducks film focuses on a rag-tag inner-city youth hockey team that rises through the ranks after being led by Gordon Bombay, a reluctant lawyer who’s coaching the team to fulfill community service hours. The Hawks were the upper-class, highly skilled rivals that the Mighty Ducks band together to defeat with the help of a star player who changes sides.

The film series had two sequels, one released in 1994 and one in 1996, that involved the Mighty Ducks representing the United States in an international tournament and playing elite high school hockey in Minnesota. There was also an animated spin-off television show, Mighty Ducks: The Animated Show, based on a planet populated entirely by humanoid ducks.

Following the success of the first film, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim were founded by the Walt Disney Co. in Anaheim, Calif., close to Disneyland Park. During the NHL lockout in 2004-05, Disney sold the Mighty Ducks, and the team rebranded to the Anaheim Ducks.
