An AHL game between the Toronto Marlies and Manitoba Moose was suspended on Friday night due to a medical emergency experienced by a fan in attendance at Coca-Cola Coliseum.

The Marlies and Moose had played one period of hockey and were in the intermission between the first and second periods when the emergency occurred. The fan was attended to by emergency medical services, and is currently in critical condition. Out of respect to the fan and their family, no details on what the medical emergency was have been reported or confirmed.

The game did not resume after the first intermission and was promptly suspended. The Marlies, who were hosting the game, released the following statement announcing the suspension:

“At Friday night’s Toronto Marlies game against the Manitoba Moose, a fan experienced a medical emergency in between the first and second periods and was attended to by emergency medical services. After consultation with both teams and the American Hockey League, a decision was made to suspend the game. The Toronto Marlies and MLSE are grateful to the EMS personnel, and fans, who assisted in attending to the emergency and our thoughts are with the fan affected and their family and loved ones.“

The game was in a 1-1 tie going into the first period, with Mikhail Abramov (2019 fourth-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs) scoring for the Marlies and Alex Limoges (undrafted signing of the Winnipeg Jets) scoring for the Moose. There is currently no confirmation as to when, or if, the game will be rescheduled.

The Marlies are the AHL affiliate for the Maple Leafs and are currently 23-9-2 on the year, sitting first place in the North Division.

The Moose are the AHL affiliate for the Jets and are currently 17-12-3 on the year, sitting in fifth place in the Central Division.
