Four players in NHL history have scored 750 goals — Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Jaromir Jagr and now Alex Ovechkin.

In the second period of Saturday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Ovechkin ripped a shot through Daniil Tarasov for the 750th marker of his career.

Ovechkin is the second-fastest of the four players to reach 750 goals, doing so in 1,222 games. It took Jagr 1,661 games, Howe 1,598 games and Gretzky only 1,001 games.

The goal was Ovechkin’s 20th of the 2021-22 season in just his 25th game. He’s currently on pace to shatter his career-high of 65 goals set back in 2007-08.
