Luke Tuch, the brother of Buffalo Sabres forward Alex, signed his entry-level deal with the Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced Tuesday. The Syracuse, New York native is a former member of the Buffalo Junior Sabres. He played college hockey at Boston University. The former second-round draft selection (47th overall) could have become a free agent after the season but instead opted to sign with Montreal.

Alex couldn’t be happier for his brother and his landing spot. “Huge congrats to him,” the elder Tuch said. “It’s an unbelievable organization, original six and the winningest organization ever. I think that he’s got a lot that he can bring to their organization.”
Luke’s deal includes a one-way AHL deal so that he can finish the current season with Montreal’s AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket. Laval has two games remaining on their schedule, one away and one at home against the Belleville Senators.
As for the support Alex Tuch will show his brother, he said he’ll be there should Luke get into the lineup. “If he’s playing in Belleville, I’m going to go watch on Friday.”
Boston University
Luke Tuch had 10 goals and 30 points at Boston University this season, helping lead the team to the NCAA Championship. They defeated Michigan Tech, Quinnipiac, and powerhouse Michigan before falling to Denver in the final.
Tuch recorded 71 points in 121 games in his NCAA career for Boston University.
As for Luke Tuch’s future, he joins a Montreal Canadiens organization stockpiled with young talent. Tuch is near the top of their prospects yet to suit up professionally within the organization. Should he impress in training camp, his NHL opportunity could come as soon as next season.
