Avalanche cancel morning skate again due to COVID-19
History is repeating itself for the Colorado Avalanche.
Colorado confirmed that its morning skate ahead of Wednesday's game at the St. Louis Blues was canceled due to the discovery of a positive COVID-19 result from Tuesday's testing. The person who recorded the positive result is in isolation, and nobody else associated with the team has thus far tested positive for the coronavirus.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there was no indication the matchup between Colorado and St. Louis would be postponed.
The Avalanche encountered a similar setback before last Friday's game at the Anaheim Ducks but nevertheless went on to earn a 2-0 victory. Defenseman Bowen Byram ultimately landed on the COVID-19 protocol list after he tested positive for the coronavirus.
Peter Baugh of The Athletic added:
Hockey fans will remember the Vancouver Canucks initially believed they had COVID-19 concerns under control but then went on pause and haven't played since March 24 due to an outbreak that included at least 25 individuals testing positive for the virus. The NHL is confident Vancouver can resume play on Friday evening.
