After being shutout in back-to-back games, the Colorado Avalanche look like they’ll be making some changes.
One potential change could be one they’d prefer not to make, though.
On Tuesday morning, the Avalanche recalled forward Riley Tufte and defenseman Caleb Jones from the Colorado Eagles.
Tufte has gone down to the Eagles and essentially been their only source of offense. Through six games, he has six goals and eight points. On top of all that, he’s been a shot generation machine, with 33 shots on goal. Can that translate to the NHL? I guess we’ll find out.
As far as I know, there are no injuries up front, and with the team at home, they didn’t have to recall Tufte. That makes me think a change may be coming.
The Jones recall is a little more interesting. Cale Makar left last game with an injury, but did return. That being said, as I wrote yesterday, it wouldn’t surprise me if something tightened up after the game and he got some time off. We’ll find out if that’s the case at practice this afternoon.
In eight games with the Eagles, Jones has four assists. He obviously is not going to replace a guy like Makar one-for-one, but this is why they went out and acquired him. He has 217 career games of NHL experience.
