The Colorado Avalanche will be one of six teams participating in the 2023 Rookie Faceoff in Las Vegas, including the host-Vegas Golden Knights, Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks. Since its inception in 2016, the showcase allows top prospects from all six teams to compete against each other.

The tournament will take place over four days, with three games on Friday, Sept. 15, two games on Saturday, Sept. 16, one games on Sunday, Sept. 17 and three on Monday, Sept. 18.

Here’s the Avalanche’s full schedule:

  • Friday, Sept. 15, ARI vs. COL, 3:30 p.m. PDT
  • Sunday, Sept. 17, COL vs. ANA, 1 p.m. PDT
  • Monday, Sept. 18, COL vs. VGK, 3 p.m. PDT

Information regarding broadcasts is scheduled to be released at a later date.

Last year, the roster was released in early September, featuring notable names like Justus Annunen, Alex Beaucage, Jean-Luc Foudy, Ben Meyers and Oskar Olausson, among others. I expect a similar timeframe for the 2023 roster to be released, which could provide our first look at Calum Ritchie.

The 2023 No. 27 overall pick attended the Avalanche’s development camp but did not participate, as he was still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

The 2023 Rookie Faceoff will lead right into Avalanche training camp, which is set to open on Sept. 21 at Family Sports Center in Centennial, Colorado.
