The Colorado Avalanche acquired forward Brandon Duhaime from the Minnesota Wild on Thursday in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

The Avalanche didn't stop there, however. They also acquired forward Yakov Trenin and the rights to unsigned draft pick Graham Sward from the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenseman Jeremy Hanzel and Colorado's third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Duhaime, 26, has eight points (four goals, four assists) and 66 penalty minutes in 62 games this season. He is a pending unrestricted free agent coming off a one-year, $1.1 million deal.

He has totaled 35 points (19 goals, 16 assists) and 230 penalty minutes in 193 career games with Minnesota.

Duhaime won't have to wait long to see his former teammates as the Avalanche and Wild face off in Denver on Friday.

Trenin, 27, recorded 14 points (10 goals, four assists) and a plus-12 rating in 60 games this season with Nashville.

He has 79 points (46 goals, 33 assists) in 283 career games with the Predators.

Sward, 20, has collected 73 points (15 goals, 58 assists) in 58 games this season with the Wenatchee Wild of the Western Hockey League. He was selected by Nashville in the fifth round of the 2022 NHL Draft.

Hanzel, 21, has totaled 50 points (13 goals, 37 assists) in 58 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL. He was selected by Colorado in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL Draft.
