Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

In this Thursday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking Philadelphia Flyers news, stories, highlights, and more from this past week.

Flyers News

  • The Philadelphia Flyers played another overtime game, and won another overtime game! They had an answer for the New Jersey Devils at each and every turn, and escaped the Prudential Center with a 3-2 overtime win. [Flyers recap]
  • Nolan Patrick – the Flyers’ No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft – is apparently retired. Maybe. Patrick is now a skills specialist and video coach for The Power Play coaching program, and the program initially described him as a “retired pro”. It has since been changed to “4x NHL Pro” after the initial description gained serious traction across major news outlets. [Nolan Patrick]
  • Believe it or not, former Philadelphia Flyers star and future Hockey Hall of Famer, Jaromir Jagr, is still playing. He’s only 51 years old. Jagr made his season debut for Rytíři Kladno on Wednesday, marking his 36th consecutive season of professional hockey. Click the link to watch the assist he earned in his debut. [Jaromir Jagr]
  • Cal Petersen was sent back to the AHL Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday, which likely means Carter Hart is finally good to go.

NHL News from National Hockey Now

  • The New Jersey Devils weren’t all that impressive in the loss to the Flyers, which led to a bit of criticism of Jack Hughes from head coach Lindy Ruff. Dougie Hamilton will be out for at least four more months, and suddenly things are looking grey in New Jersey once again. [New Jersey Devils]
  • The Boston Bruins loaned Matt Poitras to Team Canada for the upcoming World Junior Championships, which means no Denver Barkey at this tournament. [Boston Bruins]
  • The suddenly-struggling Colorado Avalanche have enough cap space to acquire Elias Lindholm, and they might do it, according to some. [Colorado Avalanche]
  • Nikita Zadorov took a page out of Rasmus Ristolainen’s playbook, and said that he wished he had Darryl Sutter as his coach when he was 18. It’s safe to say, though, that the divorce between him and the Calgary Flames didn’t go well. [Calgary Flames]
  • Former Flyers goalie Alex Lyon doesn’t figure to be out for long, but the Detroit Red Wings are now without Ville Husso, who was placed on IR. [Detroit Red Wings]
