Yaremchuk: “It was American Thanksgiving yesterday, the 25 percent mark of the NHL season, and we’re starting to learn what we have from many teams around the league. We’re also beginning to see what many teams don’t have, which is the spark for this segment in the show.

It’s Black Friday shopping and we’re going to take a look at the Western Conference. If you could make a Black Friday purchase for any team in the west, what would it be?”

Larkin: “This purchase is going to be expensive. I know that Ted Williams is the athlete famous for getting himself cryogenically frozen, I’m going to pretend that there’s a version of Curtis Joseph from the late-90s who’s cryogenically frozen. The Edmonton Oilers can pay whatever it takes to bring him back to the copper and blue because they’re not getting what they need from Jack Campbell.

I don’t know if they’ve had a true go-to goaltender since CuJo was at this peak. Yes, you’ve had your moments with guys like Tommy Salo and Dwayne Roloson, but that rock who’s there every single year who can carry you, Campbell hasn’t been that. Stuart Skinner has done well so far, but the sample size is small.

I’m dreaming of the days when you could rely on CuJo. He was an X-factor, he could give you an advantage, even if you were the underdog going into a playoff series. The Oilers don’t have that anymore and it’s upsetting to the fans.”

Yaremchuk: “I’m going to stay in Alberta for mine. Building a new arena can be expensive, so maybe the Calgary Flames can use Black Friday to get their new arena done. Maybe they can get a good deal on some TVs for the rink or a good deal on concrete.

I’ve been to the Saddledome a couple of times already this year and every time you go there, it’s like ‘boy, there’s an NHL team playing in this rink.’ Everyone laughed at the video of MacKenzie Weegar this summer walking through the locker room for the first time and how brutal that looked.”
