Blackhawks' Corey Crawford in doubt for NHL restart?

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Chicago Blackhawks veteran goaltender Corey Crawford missed the opening day of training camp after he was ruled "unfit to play or to participate."

Per an agreement between the NHL and NHL Players' Association, clubs cannot announce if a player tests positive for the coronavirus.

Malcolm Subban, Collin Delia, Kevin Lankinen, and Matt Tomkins are available if Crawford misses Chicago's best-of-five series versus the Edmonton Oilers that begins Aug. 1.

Per the AP, Chicago general manager Stan Bowman said:

"The way we are handling this is, you know, we're looking at the guys that are here and ready to play. And when Corey is in that group, then we can talk about Corey. But the focus today was to get ourselves back going. And we've got four goaltenders here."

Crawford helped the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup in 2013 and 2015. The 35-year-old appeared in 40 games during the 2019-20 campaign that was halted on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Also on Monday, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that nine players are currently self-isolating after they were potentially exposed to somebody who tested positive for the coronavirus.
