Per a few sources on Saturday, the Chicago Blackhawks have dismissed coach Jeremy Colliton. Following a horrific start to the 2021-22 NHL season and after an investigation that saw executives removed from their roles in the organization, the Blackhawks have been going through some major changes and Colliton is the latest.

The Blackhawks are 1-9-2 on the season and sit second-last in the Central Division.

Unlike the GM and executive moves, this one is solely hockey-related. Interim GM Kyle Davidson is the man who made this call to relieve the coach and released a statement on the decision:

“Our on-ice goal remains the same: to build an elite system of hockey – and we have not delivered on that. The fact is our play and competitiveness must improve. Every game, every shift. Today’s coaching changes are difficult, especially given the incredible personal connections Jeremy and others have made with our players in their development. We appreciate Jeremy’s contributions to the organization over the last three seasons, and we wish him and his family the best.

The Blackhawks have announced Derek King as interim head coach. He’ll be promoted from his role with Rockford of the AHL. That change will take place, effective immediately.
