When the Chicago Blackhawks took the ice Saturday for practice, two bits of injury information came to light. As expected, goaltender Petr Mrazek will not practice after suffering a groin injury during Friday's game. However, forward Boris Katchouk did take the ice in a non-contact jersey as works his way back from an ankle sprain.

Petr Mrazek

Petr Mrazek got the start in net Friday for the Chicago Blackhawks' home opener. He made 15 saves on 18 shots through two periods against the Red Wings.

But Mrazek appeared to tweak something at the end of the second period and did not return to the crease in the third period. Alex Stalock took over in goal and made 10 stops to help close out a Blackhawks overtime win.

The 30-year-old netminder is dealing with a groin injury that has plagued him in the past, but it doesn't sound too serious. Head coach Luke Richardson said the Blackhawks removed Mrazek from the game for precautionary reasons.

In the meantime, Arvid Soderblom is up from the Rockford IceHogs to provide goaltending depth.

Boris Katchouk

During a preseason game on Oct. 1, Boris Katchouk suffered a left ankle sprain. The Blackhawks listed his initial return timeline at 4-6 weeks and placed him on injured reserve to begin the season.

Now three weeks into his return timeline, Katchouk rejoins the team on the ice in a non-contact capacity. The Chicago Blackhawks play six of their next seven games at home, so Katchouk should have ample opportunity to work himself back into the mix.
