With the NHL trade deadline just over a month away, rumors are starting to swirl. The Chicago Blackhawks are well out of a wild card spot and have several pieces that could be on the move. One of the most notable Hawks’ names on that list is goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. Following Blackhawks practice on Wednesday morning, Fleury spoke about trade possibilities.

Fleury said he hasn’t discussed potential trades with the Blackhawks but believes his agent has been kicking the tires.

“IF I move, I would love to have a chance to win. But it’s still a big if,” Fleury said.

Fleury, who is in the final year of his current contract, added that he believes he will play at least one more season after the 2021-22 campaign. This is a significant change in tune from this past offseason when Fleury contemplated retirement after being traded to the Blackhawks.

The veteran netminder will be a hot topic over the next month, and rightfully so. Fleury already has three Stanley Cups and a Vezina Trophy to his name, so he would bring plenty of experience and a winning pedigree to a contending team. He owns a 16-17-3 record, 2.88 goals-against average, and .910 save percentage this season.

Teams such as the Vegas Golden Knights and the Washington Capitals have reportedly shown interest in the 37-year-old future Hall of Famer. Only time will tell what the future holds for Marc-Andre Fleury, but today’s developments could mean he is entering his final stretch in a Blackhawks’ uniform.
