Here's the latest on Andreas Englund and Austin Wagner.

Following Tuesday's practice, the Chicago Blackhawks provided injury updates on two of their newest players. Defenseman Andreas Englund is dealing with a hamstring injury and forward Austin Wagner has an infection that requires further examination.

Andreas Englund

Englund joined the Blackhawks in a trade that sent Jack Johnson to the Colorado Avalanche. The 27-year-old has appeared in five games for the Blackhawks, logging a -1 rating and 16 hits while averaging 13:53 of ice time.

He exited early from Monday's game against the Ottawa Senators with what was an undisclosed injury at the time. We now know that Englund has a pulled hamstring, which will sideline him for the Blackhawks' upcoming three-game road trip.

Austin Wagner

The Blackhawks acquired Wagner from the Los Angeles Kings just before last week's NHL trade deadline.

He has yet to appear in a game for his new team due to an "injury that had become infected," which the Blackhawks said they knew about when trading for him. The 25-year-old left wing will see doctors Tuesday in search of "more answers on timeline."

Wagner has not appeared in an NHL game since 2021. Prior to joining the Blackhawks, he posted posting 12 points (nine goals, three assists) in 24 games for the Kings' AHL team, the Ontario Reign.

What's On Tap Next?

The Chicago Blackhawks hit the road Wednesday to visit the Detroit Red Wings. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM CT and the Original Six matchup will air on TNT.
