According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff , the Columbus Blue Jackets have announced updates for three of their injured players.

Jakub Voracek will not be returning any time soon after a concussion he suffered in early November. The doctors advised him to be cautious because of numerous head injuries throughout his career. Voracek played 11 games for the Blue Jackets this year, scoring one goal and six points. The Blue Jackets are struggling this year and Voracek was no exception to that. He has a -7 rating this year, tied for third-worst on a poor team.

Voracek is a leader on the Blue Jackets and has two years remaining on his contract which pays him $8.25 million annually. It is not known when he will return to the Blue Jacket’s lineup.

Jake Bean will miss the next 4-6 months with a shoulder injury he suffered on November 15th against the Philadelphia Flyers. He left the game early and hasn’t returned to the lineup since. The injury is a serious one and he might not play for the Blue Jackets again this year. In 14 games, Bean scored one goal and six points while playing 15:42 minutes per game.

The most important of all these injury updates is the fate of Zach Werenski. The Blue Jackets number one defenceman will not play again this season as he is slated to miss the next six months with a torn labrum. He got surgery for it on Tuesday.

These three injuries are a crushing blow to a struggling team. The Blue Jackets sit in last place in the Metropolitan Division, five points back of the seventh place team. Any hopes of a playoff berth are effectively over now but they do have some up-and-coming players to watch. Cole Sillinger, Yegor Chinakhov, Kent Johnson, and of course, their free agent signing Johnny Gaudreau are all players to watch this season.
