Blues VP Peter Chiarelli has interview with Blackhawks for their GM post

The Chicago Blackhawks announced Sunday that they had completed an interview with St. Louis Blues Vice President of Hockey Operations Peter Chiarelli for their General Manager position.

Chiarelli, who has been at his current job with St. Louis since October 2021, has also held many other NHL executive gigs.

The 57-year-old served as the Ottawa Senators assistant GM beginning in 1999 and was named the Boston Bruins GM in 2006. Chiarelli held that assignment with the Bruins until 2015, helping lead the organization to seven playoff berths, two conference titles and a Stanley Cup Trophy in 2011.

Chiarelli became the Oilers GM and President of Hockey Operations in April 2015, and was with Edmonton for almost four seasons. During his tenure with the Oilers, Edmonton made the postseason once, falling in the second round of the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Chicago's longtime GM Stan Bowman resigned in October in the wake of a report by an outside law firm that found the organization mishandled allegations that an assistant coach sexually assaulted a player during the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup run in 2010.
