Boston Bruins go full Super Mario with costume of the year at Children's Hospital

There is something about professional athletes dressing in Halloween costumes that really gets the blood flowing. The NHL, above others, seems to have it down pat. This year, the early 'costume of the year' winners are the Boston Bruins, who sported a brilliant 'Super Mario' theme over the weekend while visiting a children's hospital.

The team dressed up to lift the spirits of those at the Mass General Children's Hospital in Boston. This was the 12th time the Bruins have taken part in this annual 'Halloween Visit' event.

"It's just a special day to be able to go and share a moment with the kids, kids that are going through a lot, families that are going through a lot, to be able to be there and just brighten up their day as much as we can, brighten up a smile or two," said Patrice Bergeron.

The charitable attitude of the NHL and its players has been notable and it is not going to slow down anytime soon.

Standouts of the group were certainly Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, who dueled as Mario and Luigi, while teammates sported the look of Donkey Kong, Wario, Yoshi, Toad, Bowser, and even Peach (Derek Forbort).

"Nope, this was given to me. But I'm wearing it proud," Forbort joked. "It's not bad, but I've got to stop and get gas, so I might get a couple looks."
