Professional athletes are in peak physical form and among the most talented people at what they do in the entire world. But sometimes, they remind us that, at heart, they’re just like us.
Take Bruins winger Brad Marchand, who needed to score in Monday night’s shootout to prevent Boston from losing to the Philadelphia Flyers. Marchand promptly overskated the puck and didn’t even carry it with him. As his stick grazed the top of it, however, it counted as an attempt.
That’s about as embarrassing as it gets, especially for someone of Marchand’s caliber. His only solace is that this didn’t happen on a more high-profile stage, or he’d really never live it down. Considering Marchand’s reputation around the league, a lot of people won’t want to let him forget it anyway.
