It has been many years since Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand licked an opponent during a playoff game, but it appears he will never live it down.

There were several tense moments in the third period of Game 2 of the series between the Bruins and Florida Panthers on Wednesday night. A big fight broke out with just over eight minutes remaining after the Panthers scored to take a 6-1 lead. During the scuffle, Florida defenseman Brandon Montour taunted Marchand with a licking gesture as referees tried to separate the two players.

Those who have followed the Bruins know why Montour did that. In 2018, Marchand got into it with Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Callahan and licked Callahan’s face. You can see the video here.

The Panthers got the best of the Bruins in every way possible on Thursday. Between the loss, David Pastrnak getting pounded in a fight and Montour’s taunt, it was a night to forget for Boston.

The Bruins won Game 1 on Monday night, so the series is tied 1-1 heading back to Boston.
