LA Kings scrappy forward Brendan Lemieux made headlines in late November last season when he allegedly bit Senators captain Brady Tkachuk.

The incident happened with just over six minutes remaining in regulation. After the play was stopped, a couple of Senators players, including Tkachuk, pushed Blake Lizotte, to which Lemieux took exception.

A scrum broke out between Lemieux and Tkchacuk, which ended up going to the ground. The latter came out of the fight claiming that Lemieux had bitten him while holding up a bloody finger.

Lemieux was suspended five games for the incident.

To this point, we hadn’t heard Lemieux’s side of the story…until now.

He was recently on the Dropping The Gloves podcast. Here’s what he had to say:

“Listen, I had my hands tied up. When a guy sticks his fingers in your eyes, you don’t have much of a choice. I’m not going to get into what happened exactly, but I got my eyes gouged and I didn’t have much of a choice. Whether I bit him or whether my mouth was open or whatever people want to get into, that’s fine. I could care less at this point. But what I do care about is my eyes, sticking up for myself, and sticking up for teammates, and that’s what I’m always going to do. I’m going to do whatever is necessary at that point.”
