Bruins sign Jake DeBrusk to two-year extension

The Boston Bruins confirmed on Monday that restricted free-agent forward Jake DeBrusk isn't going anywhere.

Boston general manager Don Sweeney announced that the club has signed DeBrusk to a two-year contract that carries an annual NHL cap hit of $3.675 million.

DeBrusk, who turned 24 years old in October, recorded 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points in 65 regular-season games until the NHL halted play on March 12 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

He then played in all 13 of Boston's playoff contests and scored four goals while averaging 17:04 time on ice per game.

The Bruins selected DeBrusk with the 14th pick of the 2015 NHL Draft, and he notched his first career goal and assist in his debut on Oct. 5, 2017, versus the Nashville Predators. Since his first night in the league, he ranks fourth on the Bruins in goals (62) and power play goals (17), and he's tied for third in game-winning goals (14), according to the club's official website.

Across 203 regular-season games, DeBrusk has 62 goals and 58 assists for 120 points. Per an ESPN story, he earned $1.29 million on the final season of his entry-level contract.
