Halfway through their road trip, the Calgary Flames have made a roster move. Goaltender Dan Vladar has been placed on the injury reserve list with what the team’s calling a “lower body injury,” and they’ve recalled Dustin Wolf from the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers to join the team.

Vladar last played on Jan. 20 in a 3-1 loss to Edmonton. Presumably this lower body injury would have occurred at another time, but we don’t have any information yet as to the date the injury is retroactive to. Vladar dressed as Jacob Markstrom’s backup on Thursday in New Jersey.

Wolf is being called up for the fourth time this season, with the prior three being due to injuries suffered by Markstrom. In five appearances this season – four starts and one in relief – Wolf has gone 1-2-1 with a 3.46 goals against average and .893 save percentage. In 28 AHL outings, he’s 18-7-2 with a 2.27 goals against average, .927 save percentage and four shutouts. He recently appeared in the AHL All-Star Classic, leading the Pacific Division to victory.

The Flames have 23 players on their active roster: 2 goaltenders, 8 defencemen and 13 forwards. They have two players on the injury reserve (Vladar and A.J. Greer) and one non-roster player (Dillon Dube).

The Flames are back in action on Saturday for a matinee against the New York Islanders.
