The Calgary Flames have re-signed goaltender Oscar Dansk to a one-year, two-way contract, the club announced Tuesday morning.

Dansk, 29, spent the entire 2022–23 season as Dustin Wolf’s backup with the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers, posting an 8–6–2 record and a .905 save percentage in 17 games.

This is Craig Conroy’s first signing as the Flames’ new general manager. Dansk’s new deal carries a $775,000 cap hit in the NHL; the terms of his AHL compensation have yet to be reported.

The Columbus Blue Jackets originally selected Dansk in the second round (No. 31 overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. The six-foot-three Swede briefly played in the Blue Jackets’ system before returning to Sweden to continue his development.

Dansk signed with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017 and quickly established himself as a promising young goaltender in the AHL. He appeared in four NHL games during the 2017–18 season as Vegas dealt with a rash of injuries at the goaltending position.

After leaving the Vegas organization in 2021, Dansk spent a year in the KHL before returning to North America on a one-year deal with the Flames in 2022. He earned a $275,000 AHL salary during the 2022–23 season.

Dansk has appeared in six NHL games (all with the Golden Knights) during his career, posting a 4–1–0 record and a .906 save percentage. He’s gone 79–40–19 with seven shutouts and a .906 save percentage in 144 career AHL contests.

The Wranglers finished the 2022–23 season as the AHL’s top team, capturing the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy on the back of their 51–17–4 record. They earned a bye through the first round of the playoffs and beat the Abbotsford Canucks in Round 2 before bowing out to the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the Pacific Division Final.
