The Montreal Canadiens practiced before heading off to Boston; receiving some good and bad news on the injury front.
After missing the better part of the last two months with a lower-body injury, Jake Evans returned to Canadiens practice earlier this week in a non-contact jersey alongside Kirby Dach and Brendan Gallagher.
After Dach and Gallagher made their returns to the Canadiens’ lineup on Tuesday night, it appears that Evans is very close to making his triumphant return since going down with a knee injury in New York.
The Canadiens’ centre was spotted at practice today with a full-contact jersey before the Canadiens get set to travel to Boston to face the Bruins on Thursday.
It’s still unsure if he will suit up for the Montreal Canadiens, but his return looks to be imminent.
Jesse Ylönen also returned to the Canadiens’ practice today after missing the last couple of days with a non-Covid related illness.
The 23-year-old was riding a hot streak before missing time earlier this week, potting three goals in his last four games.
With the returns of Dach, Gallagher and possibly Evans, Ylönen may find himself with the Laval Rocket in the not-so-distant future, in order to help the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate continue their push for the AHL Playoffs.
Ylönen remains waiver eligible and could be the odd man out on the wings because of it.
Injuries Continue
The Montreal Canadiens also announced that Kaiden Guhle would be out for the remainder of the season after suffering a high ankle sprain.
It’s the third injury that keeps the 21-year-old blueliner out of the lineup for the Canadiens this year, and ultimately the last.
Hopefully, Guhle can spend the summer putting in a good few months of training to come back for next season stronger and better than ever.
To add to the bad news, Josh Anderson did not practice today and will not be travelling with the Canadiens to Boston on Thursday.
He is set to undergo tests on his ankle and leg today to determine the severity of the injury he sustained on Tuesday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Losing Anderson for the season would be a major blow for the Canadiens with 11 games left on the season.
