The Canadian Hockey League playoffs are about to be in full swing, and with it, comes opportunities to shine for many of the best players in the Montreal Canadiens prospect pool.
The first day of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs featured four different Canadiens prospects in action, the majority of which enjoyed a successful opening day.
67’s Keep Rolling
Very few teams have the potential to stop the Ottawa 67’s this season.
They’re one of the most dominant teams in the entire CHL, thanks to a very deep roster that features players like Canadiens prospect Vinzenz Rohrer.
The 67’s dominated the Oshawa Generals 7-0 in game one of their playoff-opening series with Rohrer earning two assists in the process.
The 18-year-old is the dark horse in the Canadiens’ prospect pool. He has all the tools to become a very useful player in the NHL, but there’s still a lot of work to do when it comes to executing plays at high speed. He’s slowly yet surely regaining his confidence and form after the hit that knocked him out of action earlier in the month.
Petes Off To Strong Start
The Peterborough Petes are one of the most interesting teams in the OHL. They’re overflowing with talent, but have yet to put it all together for an extended stretch of the schedule.
They’re facing the Sudbury Wolves in the first round of the playoffs, a team that won all three of four meetings between the clubs this season. Fortunately for Peterborough, they seem to have found their rhythm. They won the first game of the series 4-2, outshooting their opponents 36-28 in the process.

Kitchener Strikes First
Prospects Filip Mesar (Kitchener) and Daniil Sobolev (Windsor) took part in a hard-fought opening game that resulted in a 1-0 series lead for the Rangers.
It’s a surprising result given Windsor won all four games between the teams this season, and has shown much better cohesion in the final stretch of the regular season.
The Rangers, on the other hand, have struggled with consistency, much like the Petes.
Neither Mesar nor Sobolev featured on the scoresheet, however, Mesar was involved in a few high-danger scoring chances.

Canadiens prospects will be in action during 11 games across the CHL this weekend.
