Canucks add former stars Daniel, Henrik Sedin to player development department

Former Vancouver Canuck standouts, Daniel and Henrik Sedin, have been added to the team's player development department, the organization announced on Monday.

The Sedin twins had spent last season gaining experience working within the team's hockey operations department.

Their new roles will include work on and off the ice with younger players from the Canucks and their minor-league AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.

The Canucks added two other former NHL players, Mikael Samuelsson and Mike Komisarek, to its player development department. Samuelsson and Komisarek will work with Vancouver's prospects.

"We're pleased to have solidified our Player Development department for next season with the additions of Mikael Samuelsson and Mike Komisarek, as well as Daniel and Henrik Sedin," Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin said. "Cammi Granato and Ryan Johnson led an extensive search to find the individuals with the right attributes, winning pedigrees, and who fit the overall strategy of the Vancouver Canucks moving forward."

Daniel Sedin was a three-time All-Star, winning the Art Ross Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and King Clancy Memorial Trophy during his 17 seasons in Vancouver. He's the all-time Canucks' leader in goals (393) and is second behind his brother in points (1,041).

Meanwhile, Henrik Sedin was a three-time All-Star for the Canucks, winning the Hart Trophy, Art Ross and King Clancy Memorial Trophy during his 17-year career in Vancouver. He's still the Canucks all-time assists (830), points (1,070) and games played (1,330).
