While the Vancouver Canucks are having a surprisingly good season, compared to years past, one of its previously good young prospects is having an incredible season, which is helping the team.

In 78 games, forward Brock Boeser has registered 40 goals and 73 points, both career highs for the Burnsville, Minnesota native. Boeser’s story of overcoming adversity has been well-documented, but his rise to being one of the best scorers this year is linear with the Canucks’s turnaround.

Thanks in part to Boeser’s impressive play, the Canucks have a chance to clinch the top spot in the Pacific Division for the first time in 11 years. Boeser’s goal on Monday night was a big part in Vancouver’s 4-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

With just four games remaining in the regular season, Vancouver (48-22-8) is five points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers for first place, and three behind the Dallas Stars for the best record in the Western Conference.

On Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss why Boeser’s incredible run has been crucial in the Canucks’ success this season.

Tyler Yaremchuk: One of the best stories in the NHL this season…Brock Boeser getting his 40th goal of the season [against the Vegas Golden Knights]. What a turnaround for him and this team as they inch closer to a division title.

Frank Seravalli: I don’t think it puts it quite out of the reach for the Edmonton Oilers to catch them, but it certainly feels like it’s a few fingertips further away for Edmonton. Vancouver, at every point, people are like, “Oh, they haven’t beaten a playoff team in the last month,”…they still find a way. I think you count the Vancouver Canucks out of the playoffs at your own peril.
