The Carolina Hurricanes are coming off a 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens last night and they saw goalie Frederik Andersen return as he stopped 24 of the 25 shots he faced. Before last night’s game it was reported they were acquiring Jake Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins, the trade call went through after the game. Today the Hurricanes are right back to it with the deadline set for 3:00 PM EST and they have acquired Evgeny Kuznetsov from the Washington Capitals for a 2025 third-round pick, as part of the trade the Washington Capitals are retaining 50 percent of his contract meaning the Hurricanes have more cap space to make another move as the day goes on if they see fit. Kuznetsov returned from NHLPA players assistance last Saturday and the Capitals placed him on waivers, he would clear and now he is joining the Hurricanes.
