Some good news on the injury front! LA Kings defenseman Alex Edler was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

Edler, 35, has been sidelined since the December 11 game against the Minnesota Wild, fracturing his ankle early into the opening period.

The Kings have been hit HARD by the injury bug lately, with Drew Doughty, Tobias Bjornfot, Matt Roy, and Mikey Anderson all sidelined within the last couple of weeks. Edler’s impending return to the lineup is a welcome sight. The former Vancouver Canuck inked a one-year contract with the Kings during the offseason and got off to a good start.

In 26 games, Edler accumulated a goal and 10 assists to go along with a +8 rating.

Something to keep an eye on — the Kings loaned Christian Wolanin to Ontario on Wednesday. We’ll see if this is nothing more than a paper transaction, as was the case when he, along with Martin Frk and Austin Strand, were loaned to Ontario on Monday and recalled in advance of Tuesday’s game against the Avalanche.

Wolanin has played well in a limited role with the NHL club this season and has done everything asked of him. It appeared that he had tallied his second goal of the season early in the third period on Tuesday, but the goal was waved off with Trevor Moore offsides.

Doughty should be nearing a return as well, so the Kings will slowly be getting key pieces back into the lineup with 20 games left in the regular season.
