The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed 2022 Stanley Cup champion Andrew Cogliano to a one-year contract worth $1.25 million, according to multiple reports.

Daily Faceoff‘s Frank Seravalli reported the financial terms of the deal on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after Peter Baugh of The Athletic first broke the news of the signing.

Cogliano, 35, scored four goals and 16 points in 74 games split between the Avalanche and San Jose Sharks during the 2021–22 regular season. The Sharks traded Cogliano to the Avalanche at the trade deadline in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round draft choice.

The versatile left-handed forward appeared in 16 of Colorado’s 20 games during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, racking up three goals and three assists.

Two of Cogliano’s goals during the playoffs — in Game 1 against Nashville and Game 1 against Edmonton — ultimately stood as game-winners. He averaged 9:42 per game in the playoffs, down from 12:40 in the regular season.

The Edmonton Oilers originally selected Cogliano in the first round (No. 25 overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft. In 1,140 career regular-season games with the Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Sharks and Avalanche, Cogliano has amassed 174 goals and 426 points.

The Avalanche now have 15 forwards signed for the 2022–23 season: Mikko Rantanen, Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, J.T. Compher, Andrew Cogliano, Logan O’Connor, Alex Newhook, Lukas Sedlak, Sampo Ranta, Ben Meyers, Oskar Olausson, Alex Beaucage, Martin Kaut, Jean-Luc Foudy and Jayson Megna.

Even with Cogliano signed, the Avalanche still have eight forwards set to become unrestricted free agents on July 13: Andre Burakovsky, Nazem Kadri, Valeri Nichushkin, Nico Sturm, Darren Helm, Kiefer Sherwood, Stefan Matteau and Dylan Sikura.
