Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues prop bets

The second round of the postseason has not been kind to our picks here, there's no hiding from that. On this Saturday in the NHL, there is but one game: the Colorado Avalanche at the St. Louis Blues.

Let's remedy our poor week and dig into this game to find the prop angles worth a look.

Pavel Buchnevich point (-125 CZR)

Buchnevich was called up to the top line in advance of Game 2 and responded with a pair of assists. All signs point to this lineup remaining for the Blues, especially considering they took home the win, 4-1.

It's a small sample size, but Colorado has been more generous to goals allowed on the road in their two playoff games, and St. Louis's scoring takes a jump at home.

That makes me like some expected goals here, and we'll opt for Buchnevich at reasonable odds on Caesars.

This top line for the Blues has accounted for 67% of their goals this series, so Buchnevich skating alongside Ryan O'Reilly and David Perron brings me confidence in his involvement tonight.

Buchnevich has a point in 22 of his last 30 games, and six points in his last seven games this postseason.

Ryan O'Reilly over 2.5 SOG (-120 DK)

O'Reilly has finished with five and four shots on goal in the first two games of this series and has covered in three straight against Colorado.

We've lost the plus-money on our guy, which is unfortunate, but it's hard to ignore his success.

Sometimes simple is just better, and until the Blues captain lets us down, he deserves our trust.

Cale Makar assist (-120 DK)

I know.

If you read my pieces regularly, first I thank you for popping in to see where I'm looking, but secondly, I know that Makar has let us down to start this series.

He has now been held without an assist in two straight games, and we missed on him in both games at -140. He did get one questionably removed in Game 1, but I digress.

We're now getting Makar at a discount at -120, and I can't give up on him now. Call this the gambler's fallacy if you must, but Makar is far too involved in this offense to not get going soon.

The star defensemen had 58 assists this season, second on the team, recording at least one in 57% of games on the year.

That number jumps on the road, where he has an assist in 64% of games this season.

Makar has 31 assists in 41 career playoff games and 14 in 20 games against the Blues. The pendulum has to swing back for a man this talented, and I believe that can be tonight.

His shot attempts have remained sky-high, which we'll get to in a moment, and this Colorado power play has had its success, a unit he is a part of. I believe in Cale Makar, make me proud tonight.

Parlay: Cale Makar & Nathan MacKinnon 3+ SOG (-127 FD)

FanDuel continues to be the only place to parlay SOG lines like this, and we're going with Makar and MacKinnon.

Makar has four and five SOG in the two games thus far against St. Louis, making him 4-for-5 against them this season. He's covered his shots prop in five of seven games this postseason and is averaging eight attempts per game in that span.

Colorado has been getting their shots off against the Blues, and St. Louis has been vulnerable to defensemen shots for months, which is why we keep targeting Makar.

On to MacKinnon, who may just bounce-back and cover his 4.5 line considering he had 10 shot attempts in Game 2.

Three is a safe floor for him. He scraped to that on Thursday, the only playoff game he's had fewer than six SOG this year.

I sure would love to get right here in the NHL as it's been a tough week. I trust in the numbers and our approach here, so let's make today the turning point. Good luck tonight!
